Why Bother With New Business?

October 21, 2009
unless you are a giant, preferably foreign corporation with hooks in several communities across the U. S., are addicted to government “stimilus” money and quite willing to lie, like the giant Osage Corporation that the same county leaders hypocritically approved of last year. They got approval for a giant distillery to produce ethanol from corn, but their plans are on hold as resistance to this “gasohol” boondoggle mounts.  The LTE below appeared this week in several Southside Virginia newspapers but could apply  almost anywhere in the U. S.
Dear Editor

Should Mecklenburg’s Board of Supervisors’ decision making on development be replaced by public referendae?

Pressure is what the Board responds to— not necessarily the interests of all citizens. Voting for or against development according to the size of the applicant’s pocket book, the amount of taxpayer development or “Stimulus” money, or even how many show up at a meeting in support or opposition does not accurately reflect the needs of ALL Mecklenburg citizens. .

Making key decisions by only nine, or a few dozen who shout the loudest at a public meeting is neither accurate nor fair. We could go back to the old outworn concept of private property and minding ones’ own business— but that was abandoned long ago in favor of pleasing the loudest and grasping for as much federal and state “gub’mint” money as we could.

In applying for their tiny and legal moonshine still, the Ward’s made several mistakes:

-First perhaps was not having a huge corporation behind them, to build hundreds of stills, not one.

-They should have promised not family employment but dozens, perhaps hundreds of jobs.

-They could have offered to restore and reuse all of the empty country store buildings in Mecklenburg at, say, One Million Dollar each.

-They should have promised $Millions of Stimulus money diluted from the money supply that must be paid back by our grand children.

-Alcohol produced should have been for some useless purpose — like cutting our gas mileage and ruining car engines while driving up food prices from the use of millions of bushels of corn.

-Their backers, MegaCorp could have promised to hew the liberal line of “global climate change” and fund stupid, liberal, immoral, family and economy destroying projects.

-Finally, they could have offered to run typical chain convenience stores with filthy magazines on display— all within 500 feet of churches.

…but what do I know? I am only a Moonshine loving, Ignorant Hillbilly,

How to be a conservative

How To Be A Real Conservative

If you agree with me on all these points I will anoint you True Conservative!

A real conservative today must be anti-cultural today in somewhat the way earlier communist radicals were. They have, after all, won the hearts and minds of a majority of Americans and thoroughly polluted our institutions. Name me a major corporation or non-profit run by conservatives. I will feel much more optimistic about

We are truly “on the outs” with the world of Marxism/Liberalism that is the “Windows Vista” operating system of our day. By itself it is unsustainable but kept propped up only by huge effort by those who are still productive but cowed into submission to it.

Spheres of Human Activity

Reminiscent of Abraham Kuyper’s sovereign spheres of human activity, Michael Novak divides society into three main functions, the moral/cultural, the economic, and civil government. A conservative’s view of things would see the moral/cultural, containing as it does the family, church, school, museums and concerts as by far the largest in influence. The “cult” in cultural has to do with religion and is the heart and soul of any society. Christianity built Western civilization and was especially at the heart of the American founding. Erase Christian influence and we will be no better– perhaps worse— than Nazi Germany of Pol Pot’s Cambodia.

The economy pays for everything but has to be morally formed and restricted by the moral/cultural sphere, especially by Mom who used to teach us to play fair and be nice. In fact the economy has built today an “anti-culture” of entertainment and education that has undermined everything decent and fair.

Government in our Constitutional regime of limitations must be by far the smallest of the three and equally formed by Christianity and by Mom. Instead it has become the main anti-Christian force in America, enforcing not decency laws as it used to but reinforces Disney that brings us pornography and every form of debauchery and anti-patriotism. Indeed of hatred for political and economic freedom, of self and family responsibility, industry and playing by the rules themselves.

To put things back into proper order we must echo our Founding Fathers and all pray to the God who made us, cares for us, and will judge us in the end. Our salvation and that of others must always be at the top of everything we are devoted to. Otherwise we are no better than idolatrous liberals— who worship themselves and the government they create.

Heroism as Idolatry

It is a common error— that I have been guilty of— to think that a man who has proven excellence in one area must be wise in all others. A man who has built a successful corporation has many skills, especially people skills. Employees love him. Customers and suppliers admire and respect him. Yet he has had several failed marriages and his children hate him. An entertainer or athlete we may not expect as much of yet we, perhaps even more, expect him or her to be somehow a god so that when a Ted Danson pronounces the end of the world – people listen. Why? The man is demonstrably an idiot! Yet because his face is well known somehow this debauched race feels he has “expertise” on oceans rising and swallowing us up.

Women are particularly susceptible to idolatry, more like to vote for emotion and a “pretty face” than based on a hard evaluation of the facts. Oh, he is such a nice guy! No matter he is a baby killer! Woman’s natural need for a man to protect her— for security— often overrides what is broadly best for society in both the short term and the long term. I have had women tell me, But I can’t get beyond my individual situation! when I asked them if the policy that benefitted them in the short term was the constitutional and best way to go for society.

Women Voting — a Huge Mistake!

Women should never have been given the right to vote. My father was laughed at for saying this, but more and more people— women included— I come into contact with are starting to agree with him. If you accept traditional and commonsense view that the normal place for women is in the home, rearing children and making a pleasant place for their warrior-husbands then every vote is really a household vote. If the woman differs on the best candidate with her husband she will cancel out his vote so the net political influence of this family is — zero!

The Family Vote

The constitutional precedent for the Family Vote lies, oddly enough, in the original U. S. Constitution’s proportioning of slaves as 3/5ths persons for the purposes of assigning congressional seats. Imagine if each single man gets a vote, every married couple gets two votes — cast by the husband, plus an “extra” vote for each child in the womb and beyond until said child comes of age when he can vote on his own.

The Family— Foundation of Society

Of course, God must the True Foundation of society— but I am dealing with politics and economics here— not religion. The very manner in which this country was settled tended to weaken the family as folks spread outwards from eastern cities to far flung places on the plains, seacoasts and mountains. The Industrial Revolution, massive immigration and subsequent rise of huge cities and suburbs all weakened the family and the center of the universe for millions of Americans. The concept of neighborhood was a pretty good substitute— as far as it went.

Church and Family as Dispenser of Welfare.

The healthy family takes care of its own. Next come the Church and local volunteer groups people form to take care of the needy. Some people can never accept the “chaos” of uncentralized efforts and will look for any “emergency” as excuse to convert private charity to government “charity.” Fact is private and community— volunteer efforts did a rather good job, as chronicled by Marvin Olasky chronicled in The Tragedy of American Compassion, until shouldered aside by Big Government.

Government “Charity” is of the devil and all of it must be done away with! Altogether!

All forms of income and property redistribution are unconstitutional. Both Ninth and Tenth Amendments forbid federal government from doing anything not spelled out in the Constitution. There is nothing in there about helping the poor and victims of tragedy. If was not an oversight. As we should have seen from Katrina government involvement in emergency help always ends up being the greater tragedy. But government types are by nature incapable of learning. Their victim “clients” are always addicted to such help as comes from other people.

We cannot afford government “charity.”

All government aid always costs two or three times as much as private. Private helping institutions, not commercial, are largely run by volunteers and typically— as in the case of the Salvation Army, less than ten percent overhead. Government is nearly the opposite with, as reported, some 78 percent overhead. That means of every dollar given to the poor, government keeps 75 cents. Sweden and Denmark have both concluded that family is a whole lot cheaper than government. Welfare has bankrupted every nation that has tried it— and destroyed families in the process.

In addition to constitutional prohibition, such redistribution- by- force always violates God’s commandment against stealing.

True charity is only from Christ.

That’s right, the duty towards the poor mentioned in other places is always just that— a duty. Pagans and other religions would give alms to the poor. Kant saw duty as the highest ideal. But where’s the love? Only Christian charity is infused with real love, done first as a response to the love of God and only then as love of fellow man. Charity is seen in somewhat different light in America where “the poor you will always have with you” runs counter to our ethos of opportunity.

In a land of opportunity being poor is an aberration. Only the sick and feebleminded are “legitimately” poor. Everyone else is lazy, suffers from a weak character. For the rest of us such poor constitute a problem to be fixed. Get them off their lazy asses, you may hear. Laziness itself is a mental illness, akin to depression. Family dysfunction and breakup is both the major cause and major effect of poverty. Scan through websites of anti-poverty groups and scant mention is ever made of the failure of families to instill virtues of hard work, self sacrifice, and obeying the rules in order to do well in life. Unless, that is, they are conservative websites.

Unless freely chosen and lived for some higher purpose, like Franciscan monks, poverty in itself has no reason expect laziness. Solving family formation problems will take a long time but must start with getting government out of the poverty business. Subsidiarity, or the principle of local and small before large and national, means providing individualized solutions to small scale problems Every poverty problem is individual and family. Only the personal touch, brought with the love of Christ can help the poor get out of poverty. Then, unless government stops rewarding poverty not much will improve.

Formation of Consciousness and Conscience – “Mere creatures of the State?”

To be a real conservative you cannot support the continuation of education in America as it is currently done. Except for government and industry handling certain job training conservatives must call for radical reform that takes both government and industry out of the picture.

The North Carolina ruling also resembles a number of rulings handed down against homeschool parents in Germany, where such instruction has been banned since the years of Adolf Hitler’s rule.

As WND reported, Wolfgang Drautz, consul general for the Federal Republic of Germany, has commented previously on the issue, contending the government “has a legitimate interest in countering the rise of parallel societies that are based on religion.”

Government Schools = Child Abuse

Why would conservatives send their kids to the enemy for training? Schools from Pre-K through PhD are run 90 percent by liberals. It should be no secret that most students lose their Christian faith in college. And their virginity. It is one thing if you just woke up to reality yesterday — and became a conservative. It is quite another for you to be spouting the conservative line for a decade or more and still be sucking at the Big Government School teat.

Real Conservatives Have Lots of Children.

I am always saddened when I hear a “conservative” young couple say they would refuse to have more than two children. More than just a religious belief being open to children is all about survival of the species. Look at the demographics. Europe, Russia, Japan — even less developed countries are beginning to experience the Population Bomb —- only not in the way of that Malthusian book of some decades ago. This population bomb is all about imploding. Where are the young to take care of the old? Where are the workers? Where are the geniuses to lead society? Dead! Killed in the Abortion Holocaust — some 50 millions to be sure, but how about the uncountable hundreds of millions prevented from entering life in the Birth Control Holocaust? Abortion after all is just birth control by other means.

Real Conservatives Are Creative — and Productive

God said to go out and populate the earth, subduing it for our use. He did not say to destroy it but cultivate, develop it for the use of expanding future generations. How much food, clothing and shelter does a so-called rain forest (Jungle!) produce? Not much. Other than a little timber it is not of much use to man. Fertile, cultivated fields and planted tree crops do a lot more. And they provide habitat for animals. The Green Revolution of the 1970’s fed the world. Now the environmentalist wackoes threaten starvation for millions by forcing the curtailment of fertilizer and genetic modifications to plants and animals that make them more productive for us. Lack of faith in God’s not letting us starve is at the root of Malthusianism, as is Marxism/Socialism — and actual Atheism. Of course, we must not trash the earth. We must be stewards and not exploiters. We must all be conservationists for future generations. Just as of course the liberals do not say anything about future generations — of mankind. They think only of animals, trees and so forth. They hate humanity and want it to disappear! Such hatred fuels distrust of man’s creative powers along with God’s provenance. We are getting more out of less stuff all of the time, yet liberals are blind to our increased efficiency.

Enough for now….

The Writers Security and Fairness Act

December 4, 2007

What to say when one has writer’s block?

How about an article on the Writers Security and Fairness Act. “Man cannot live by bread alone…”

Post 9-11 this writer decided that there were too many dangerous and cheap imported writings coming into the U. S.  What we needed was the Writers Security and Fairness Act.

Writing is important. It is even a security issue. No society can survive without writing. The economy and the government and the government and culture all depend upon good writing. What would happen if all the writers were to stop?

Right now President Bush is pondering the latest Agricultural Bill— including some $286 Billions in “aid” to farmers, rich to poor, family and corporate. Why?

To hear farmers tell it, the rest of us (They don’t eat too?) should worship the ground they walk on because they provide our food. If they were to quit farming we’d all die!

If you don’t hear that as much as you used to it is because we are now importing so much food. That too, according to American farmers, threatens our lives. We can’t have it either way, let alone both ways. We are either held hostage by American farmers, or subject to poison by cheap imported food. Farmers are smart.

They have bamboozled us into paying them, in addition to the price of food, close to $1,000 for every man, woman and child — just for the “privilege” of eating!

Writers are stupid! If we were smart we’d get government to “help” us— just like it did the farmers starting back in the 1930’s— with all sorts of programs.

We’d start by getting government to put in import tariffs on writing— otherwise we’d undercut ourselves when we raised our prices by encouraging the importing of cheap and lousy food. Just like American sugar producers keep sugar prices artificially high for American families.

Then we’d pare down the numbers of American writers. Farms are limited in part by the high cost of getting into the business. Everybody fancies himself a writer— with no entry cost to speak of. We need to get government to pay people not to write, just like they pay farmers not to farm, sometimes buying them out altogether. That would leave only the serious writers in the business. The rest could use the pay out money to go to school and learn a real skill. The rest of us might be able to earn a living.

Of course a real problem is the fact that probably a million or more Americans fancy themselves writers and would be lining up for a handout— in addition to a couple of million farmers.  Add to that 40 or 50 millions already getting direct payments from the government and you see the problem: We are going broke— not working but trying live off each other on still other peoples’ money.

We will have to unionize. There are already unions, like the Screenwriters Guild, but far too many writers are captive of huge, often global, corporations. Every scrap of writing, every memo, letter, piece of tech writing, must be credited to individual writers and given copyright status, the author getting royalties whenever it is used forever.  Of course, companies will try to avoid writing altogether. Given the quality of writing today that may be hardly noticed.

Then there is a security issue. A lot of cheap, unpatriotic, foreign writing comes accross our borders today— writing that undermines our values, threatens our sovereignty, and damages our security.  All imported writing has to undergo a security check, a strip search as it will.

Since, especially with the internet, you cannot tell were writing originates all writing must be subject to government censors and quality and security inspections— to determine who are real American writers. That alone will provide jobs for many thousands of writers. Job security.

Writers block must be identified as a disability under the 1991, Americans With Disabilities Act. Then you can get paid for not writing— only by proving you cannot write!

Government kills anything it touches. Given the trash that comprises most writing today that would be a good thing. Think of it! No more huge govrernment manuals, rules and regulations.

To dream…
